Job hunt is soul destroying
With a PhD (Microbiology) and nearly a decade of postdoc/academic roles and my contract is expiring in under a month. Nothing lined up, not even interviews, it's just rejections all the way. Even jobs where I felt I was very well suited, don't even invite me for an interview. No clue why. With bills to pay and a family with kids to take care of, saying it's stressful is an understatement. My partner does some part-time work, but its only a supplement to our income and won't get us from month to month.
At this point, I am starting to consider applying for any job, supermarket, or delivery driver, while this saga of applications and rejections plays on. Just how would I prepare my CV for such roles? I cant say I did no work until now and if they see my previous work history of research and teaching jobs at Uni, they will think something is seriously wrong with me and will throw my application to the wayside.
Has anyone been in a similar situation? What did you do?
