Sprinkler method glitch/patched?

I set down a bunch of sprinklers, harvested, and then left the game. An hour later I came back and NOTHING grew??? Like the moon melons I harvested haven’t even started to grow yet and the eggs I set haven’t aged.

What’s going on?
