College PC upgrade/rebuild
Hey all! I’ve had my current pc for a little while now, I built it in the height of the you shortage with just integrated graphics and later bought a 6800XT for it. The cpu is clonking out on me and so is the PSU and i’ve decided it’s about time to upgrade before I head off to college the year after next (I’m going into my senior year of HS next year)
My goals for my new build:
- Roughly $1500 (Excluding the GPU that I already have)(give or take $200)
- AI: The GPU isn’t great for it besides having quite a bit of vram, but I need the ram to load models into hence why i’m splurging a bit to there.
- WiFi: In college I don’t know if i’ll have ethernet so I wanted a MOBO with built in wifi.
- Form factor: I wanted something smaller than my NZXT h710 hence the case choice.
- Sound: I wanted something decently quiet that can run throughout the night as I am leaving my server rack at home. It’s not the biggest deal since I will be in a single dorm but It’s a nice to have.
What I ask of the community:
- Look over my build! See if there is anything you suggest I would have done differently or places I could save some cash.
- Sanity check: I think everything fits but can never be too sure lol
- Any advice for putting it together? I’ve built computers but am always down for some tips!
- How stupid is replacing the fan in the PSU with one made to be quiet? I am aware of the risks and all that is involved with swapping it, I want to know how practical it is and how much of a difference it could make.
- What fans should I go with? What is the best configuration for airflow? I want some quiet fans that push a good amount of air.
