Why do the deli workers give you the worst pieces of chicken??

Anyone else notice this? The hot plate will have the nicest, juiciest, crispiest looking chicken you've ever seen in your life, and they worker will give the shittiest, dryest little runt of a chicken.

Are they trained to do that? To keep the case looking fuller?
