Death of a sole trader

I'm the operations manager of a company owned by a sole trader. I've been employed for one month. The owner has gone on holiday with their spouse (who is also an employee) and is due back this week coming. I have been informed (unofficially, but from a family member of the proprietor) that they (the proprietor) have passed away.

What the fuck do I do?

Everything I've read online says that the business ends with them.

Do we continue working? Do I tell anyone until the spouse tells me? Do we even go in?

For clarity: We are halfway through a project that we are due to complete tomorrow, using company vehicle(s). Staff pay was on 28/06. I panicked and have informed our apprentice that the proprietor has passed (their parents know the proprietor) I have disclosed the proprietor's passing to our HR consultant (external) who has advised me to carry on until I am informed officially or they have spoken with their solicitor.

Help me reddit-one-kenobi. You're my only hope.
