Recovery codes for Yahoo email?

When I authorised 2-step verification for google and gmail they gave me 10 recovery codes for each account. Naively I decided to take the plunge and ask Yahoo mail for 2-step verification but NO RECOVERY CODES? Surely they can issue them? Every bit of help I found online was either foolish AI stuff that didn't work or just nonsense because nowhere can I find even a hint of these 10 recovery codes I need. Also they were demanding to text my phone BEFORE I had 2-factor authentification. Is it not possible to have email not tied to a phone? It feels awfully fragile. (I cannot have a contract phone, don't have the money.)

My apologies if this is slightly off-topic, I looked everywhere for somewhere to ask this question. AI told me to go to cybersecurity who shut me down because their thread/page/whatever is for IT professionals only... ikk!
