Question about carry potentional.

Just had an argument with a friend. Let's assume Faker plays a game full of plat players. His team griefs hard in every lane, losing every objective. His opponents are giga fed, 3-4 items difference. Can Faker or any great player solo carry; And in the example above, if he was in a masters or gm lobby can he carry again? Just curious about your opinions.
