My mom supports me but I feel bad.
Hi, it's the first time I post something on Reddit and I needed to confront myself with some people from my same community.
I recently came out to my mom as a trans guy (maybe half a year) and even though she doesn't fully understand she has been supportive, since I'm 17 and not yet of age I asked her if she could take me for a consultation to a specialist so that by the time I am of age I'll have a chance to start my transition, I know this is a nice thing but for some reason I feel guilty, I don't really understand why. I suppose I kinda feel like she's "enduring my teenage angst" and I'm just making it harder for her, she has her own issues and she has some problems making time for me, in the back of my head I often ask myself "what if it really is a phase?" or maybe I worry I'll come off as the odd one out to my family more than I already am.
For context I've been diagnosed with autism when I was 13, pretty late in my life and this has been perceived as somewhat of an attention seeking behavior to the rest of my family because according to them I'm normal, with that context I now worry that if maybe I get diagnosed with gender dysphoria and start a medical transition it'll just be an addition to my "made up diagnosis" list and in a way I ask myself if I WANT to be unwell, if I want to be different and make it difficult for people around me even though I'm sure I'd be happier if I transitioned medically. Basically I feel like I'm taking advantage of my mom that helps me despite what she doesn't understand and I'm using her, I guess I came on here for reassurance, maybe advice or an explanation as to why I feel this way.
I'd really like to know I'm not alone in feeling like this, thank you for taking your time reading this, again I'm not really a Reddit person so sorry for any vocabulary that seems odd.
