Please help me understand this melancholic feeling ?

This is not a relationship post.

I have a female friend who is going through a very bad breakup. It's really bad along with marriage pressure and everything and I was happy that I was able to provide a safe space for her to talk about everything she is going through.

She still loves the guy and it's really hard for her to give up on him(he cheated) and I know how hard it is to move on from that.

Since I have been helping her with this, she suddenly said if I was from the same community, she would have married me.

I understand why she said that but I don't know why this has left me in a melancholic feeling that I can't explain. I almost feel like I am happy but I want to cry. I don't understand.
