apologies if this looks bad, since i've never made a reddit post before, but hello!! **i've been having a strange issue, specifically with the images i've made to use as "dividers" for my website, and it doesn't happen with any other images.** the image files themselves are completely normal as well. it makes the image look blurry, and it's been driving me up the wall

**(i'd appreciate it if we only focus on the image situation and how to fix it and not my poorly made code, by the way. i've only been doing this since december of 2024 and i took a long break qwq)**

when i click drag the image as if i were trying to open it in a new tab, it has a **strange gradient effect**, shown in the first image. **this only happens with the star images, even after attempting to replace the image file itself.** this doesn't happen with any other images, and **it doesn't change anything when i apply any kind of styling to it**

in the second image, i purposefully made the image bigger than the box it's meant to be in, and you can see that it has a drop shadow, specifically outside of the box. i have no idea how, as there's no style applied, and **everything i've attempted to change with the css hasn't changed anything**

in the third image, you can see that the image is completely normal, and this applies to the other variations of it. the images are named "stardiv.png" "stardivlong.png" and "lightstardiv.png" and **changing the name hasn't fixed this issue either.** i've also attempted to upload a test to neocities (the hosting site i'm planning to use) and **it does the same thing there,** so it isn't visual studio code or the live server extension

in the fourth (html img tag) fifth (main box div css) and sixth (the only image style i have that **isn't even applied to these**) images, you can see that **the html and css probably shouldn't be making this happen.** i have no idea how to fix this or if i'll just have to deal with it q\_q

seeking html/css advice: image has a strange drop shadow without any styling applied
