(Season 8/Finale Spoiler) How on God's green earth did Dexter get away with...

SpoilerQuestion - Original Dexter Series

...killing Debra? I understand it was a hurricane and they were all preoccupied, but the second her heart monitor went offline nurses and doctors would've rushed in. Is it just season 8 logic? Also, wouldn't there have been cameras and shit after Dexter "died" showing that he killed her?

I just finished the show for the first time and I'm moving on to New Blood and then Original Sin. I've heard they're better than season 8 and I definitely hope so, but this ending put me in such a bad mood - even Deb being put aside.

Also - is there any particular reason WHY he faked his death? Was it the Deb thing? Even though Quinn and Batista were suspicious of the Saxon thing, they obviously understood and were going to cover up what he did. I'm still wracking my brain trying to figure out why he abandoned Harrison and Hannah.
