Someone explain to me lack of stop signs/crosswalks in Margate?!

First summer doing a seasonal rental in this town and every other shore town seems to have crosswalks and stops signs going both ways on narrow streets but for some reason when going the width of the island it’s frogger for pedestrians with cars going 40 down 25 mph roads. Just a very strange and negative experience compared to other shore towns I’ve stayed in. If someone has the reason for this or just would like to bitch about it as well, please comment.
