Hey everyone on r/Jewellers,

I'm reaching out to you all, practically pulling my hair out, after a pretty disheartening experience with a local jeweler. I genuinely believe I have something truly special here – a *once-in-a-lifetime* find – and I was frankly insulted by the valuation I received ($4,650, if you can believe it!). I'm hoping you amazing folks can lend your expertise, no matter how small you think your insight might be, to help me understand this piece better and, crucially, how to go about selling it fairly.

This bracelet is just… wow. It showcases some of the most beautiful traditional Peruvian gold-making techniques I've ever laid eyes on. The intricate gold and filigree work are stunning, and the details are just incredible.

**Here's what I know about this beauty:**

First off, it's solid 18K yellow gold. I had it tested, and it's 100% genuine – you can even see the "18K" stamp on the back of one of the panels in the photos. And get this: it weighs a hefty **91.06 grams**. When I held it, I immediately knew it wasn't some flimsy costume piece.

From what I've learned, this is a rare "storyteller" or "panel" bracelet from Peru, likely crafted between the 1930s and 1950s. This was a really cool time for Peruvian art, where they mixed popular Art Deco and Retro styles with a strong, renewed pride in their native heritage – it's called the **Indigenismo movement**. You can totally see that blend in this piece.

The bracelet has seven rectangular links, all hinged, and each one has this amazing oval medallion in high relief. These medallions depict Andean or Inca figures in profile, and they are just *packed* with detail. They're wearing these elaborate feathered headdresses and holding staffs or stalks – all symbols that tie back to Inca nobility, rituals, and the agricultural roots of Andean society. The figures are genuinely three-dimensional, with such fine, hand-finished touches.

Around these figures, there's this gorgeous, ornate scrollwork that looks just like traditional filigree. It's truly intricate and really shows off the skill of the artisan.

The back of each link has a subtle texture, and the bracelet closes with a super secure box clasp and a safety latch, which apparently was common for high-quality Peruvian jewelry from that era.

These bracelets aren't just jewelry; they're considered wearable art. They were made for the wealthy in Peru and also for export. The craftsmanship is just next level – I think they used a lost-wax casting method for the figures, followed by careful hand-finishing. And it's all solid gold, which just adds to its beauty and value.

What I love most are the stories each panel tells. They seem to depict daily life, rituals, and agricultural themes central to Andean culture. You can spot symbols like maize or ceremonial staffs. Each panel feels like a mini-chapter in a larger cultural narrative. It's this amazing fusion of global Art Deco geometry and local, indigenous art.

Honestly, authentic pieces like this are highly collectible. They're valued for their history, the sheer amount of gold, the incredible craftsmanship, and the rich storytelling. It's a real tribute to Peru's indigenous past and its 20th-century artistic revival.

**I've included a bunch of photos so you can get a good look:**

**So, here's where I** ***really*** **need your help:**

1. **Valuation & Selling Advice:** Given all this information and the photos, do you agree that $4,650 seems ridiculously low? What do you think a fair value range for a piece like this would be? More importantly, **how should I go about selling this piece to ensure I get its true value?** I'm obviously not going back to that last jeweler. Are there specific auction houses, online platforms, or specialty dealers known for handling rare antique Peruvian gold jewelry?
2. **Period & Context:** Can anyone confirm or refine the 1930s-1950s estimate? Any more specific cultural or historical insights into the depicted motifs or figures?
3. **Makers?** Are there any well-known Peruvian goldsmiths or workshops from that era who might have produced pieces of this quality?
4. **Techniques:** Any thoughts on how they achieved that "simulated filigree" effect? Is it typical for the period?
5. How do i go about getting closer to its full worth? Im located in the East TX area and am willing to drive. Selling for my mom who would definitely have taken that bunk offer (im young so i'm assuming he simply thought i had no idea what was going down, happens a lot)

Thank you, thank you, thank you in advance for any and all advice. This bracelet is a genuine treasure, and I'm determined to see it properly appreciated and valued!

Please oh merciful ones...i seek thy divine wisdom. (Extravagantly mysterious Antique anomaly 18k "Peruvian Gold" bracelet)
