Steam Rom Manager Problems

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix controls for games launched through game mode? I have Game Boy Advance games launching correctly on game mode, but they're only using the d pad on the deck.

They're set to use the joystick/d pad on mgba, but it's only using d pad. They're completely ignoring controls from my wireless Xbox controller as well.
