[TOMT][SKIT][1990s] Obscure skit: Chickens with human heads. Syria ~ mid 1990s
Hi all, So this won't be easy because old tv from my country is impossible to dig up, but I want to through this and document it online somewhere. Maybe in 50 years someone will find a trace to it...
So this has been a core memory of mine since I was 4-6 years old from mid to late 90s.. perhaps 1994 even? I haven't shared this with anyone because I would never expect anyone to know or remember seeing this. No one in my little town have ever mentioned it in passing afterwords, and the tv channel never showed it again. At least none that I have seen. I was too young to ask others if they remember this. It's also too obscure to put into words to ask.
We were left watching tv in our Syrian village back in maybe 1994 or 95, I can't tell exactly give or take a couple of years. It was late at night and we were watching the local second channel on antenna that usually is dedicated to English and other foreign languages media. It could've been a Syrian production, but there's a bigger chance it was French or English, or really any other nation on any continent. My country mostly featured English or American and French produced media the most on that second channel. However, sometimes we’d get Italian, Russian, or German occasionally during that time.
I deistically remember the tv showing what I thought was a commercial because it wasn't long, but was very obscure short skits. It might have just been an odd art project. The most vivid memory part of it was a few chickens walking around with bold/shaved human heads. Like the video was "Photoshopped" to make it look like the chickens are normal, just instead of a normal chicken head, they had human ones. There was no dialoug or script. Just a bunch of chickens acting like normal chickens, bobbing their necks as they walk, but the heads happen to be human and I remember most of them to be bold or shaved.
Then they showed other types of birds. I can't remember if there was an ostrich maybe, or a swan, maybe even other animals, not sure. But all the necks ended in humans for heads.
It didn't scare me at all. It looked more cinematic. But it was definitely unsettling and I can see maybe other kids getting scared of it if they were a bit older than me after you learn you have to find such things unsettling if you know what I mean.
The lighting or color theme was darker, a bit brown/grayish filter. Like how older movies sometimes look. However, different TVs at the time could each have a color hue default that's different from others. Just how TVs were back then. So maybe it was just the effect of the specific tv my great aunt had at the time.
My earliest memories are from 1994 and onwards, but maybe the movie was from an older archive.
