Student who just got a scribe and would like some help

I recently purchased the Scribe on sale. I am a college student who mainly wanted an e-ink device to be able to read academic PDFs, articles, and textbooks, so I don't have to print so much or buy physical textbooks, as I have been doing previously. I also like to annotate my ODF readings. I was also planning on using it to write notes for some classes. I wanted something distraction free and simple. However, I have noticed some concerns and wanted to ask for help to see if these can be resolved or if I'll have to return it and get something else.

  1. There is no text-to-snap highlighting on PDFs, only on Kindle books. Is there an option for this that I am missing?

  2. Is there a way to set the screen to zoomed so it stays that way? I tried the Remarkable before so I knew it had that option. There is also no way to adjust fonts for PDFs on the Scribe, compared to Kindle books.

  3. When zoomed in to make the page bigger (PDFs), I have to scroll. However, there is a lot of flashing every time I scroll which is disturbing, and I cannot seem to make the pages turn until I zoom out to where the entire page fits. Then, the next page I have to zoom in again.

  4. Is there a way to remove or block the home page? I will not be using it to read books for fun, so it would be great if I could remove it.

Thanks in advance for any advice!
