Made A Boys Character For A D&D Encounter
I've been playing D&D for a while now, and my friends/fellow players are wanting me to DM a one-shot some time. I've been trying to come up with some fun encounters/characters. As I was looking through some old notebooks, I found a stat block for a character I made for the lols randomly when I was bored one afternoon: everyone's favorite granny enthusiast Soldier Boy.
I went all the way to level 20 with him, so he would definitely be a serious encounter for a party. Used the 2014 rules to build him because this was before the current rules launched. As you might expect from a Captain America-type character, he started out as a Fighter, but he actually ended up mostly being a Bard. I went with Bard mainly because I needed the additional magical secrets to gain access to a spell to use for his chest beam.
Here's some highlights from the build:
BattleMaster Fighter 6/College of Swords Bard 14
Feats: Tough, Shield Master
Spells Include: Blade Ward (For resisting some damage), Vicious Mockery (For the trash talking) and Sunbeam (Chest beam)
I'm actually quite happy with how it turned out. Swords Bard's ability to add your Bardic Inspiration to your AC until the start of your next turn helped him be even more tanky in general. I fully intend to make other characters from the show in D&D at some point, I would just have spend more time with the new rules because I'm still used to the old rules.
I would love to hear input from everyone about both my Soldier Boy build and thoughts about what other characters would look like in D&D!
