Flat cost?

What are others’ orthodontists charging - a flat rate or per month charge?

I received an estimate for 22-months of treatment but the doctor said it could only be 9 months of treatment. When I asked the office for details about the cost estimate, they said 22-months is the average time and that the price is based on the overall treatment, not on the treatment length.
