Thinking of building something fun around personal finance for Gen Z - curious if this is a real pain point?
So here’s the deal: I’m in my early 20s and absolutely terrible at tracking money.
I get some income or allowance, and within 7-10 days, I have no idea where it went.
I’ve tried:
- Notes app: Forgot to update
- Excel: Too much effort
- Expense apps: Too boring or too “banky” - I uninstall them after a week
I’ve talked to a few friends and the story is always the same - people want to manage money but don’t stick with any tool.
It got me thinking - what if there was a money tracker built more like a social app?
Think: emoji-based inputs, no spreadsheets, no charts, just a fun and frictionless way to stay accountable.
Is this something others struggle with too?
I’m still at the early validation stage, just trying to understand if this pain is real or I’m just bad with money 😅
Would love to hear your thoughts or feedback.
Also curious - what helped you actually stick to tracking your expenses?
