Why is sold listings for things all over the place?

When looking at how much things sell for often mythed as the flucuation in prices, for example

Amazon Echo 2nd gen solds are often 35-40, but looking at search for current many for 17£,

yet 3rd gen similiar price 35-40,

not just this but many things I find strange, is it ebay promoted listing just dominating or something?
