Silent Departure - Graveyard Recursion?

I feel like I am missing something because a 1 mana graveyard recursion seems ridiculous for a cheap $ card.

Silent Departure states "Return target creature to it's owner's hand." It doesn't say anything about it being on the battlefield, so could I cast this to return a creature from my graveyard to my hand?
