🔧 [Help] First Prototype of a 3-Day Multi-Color Print – Issues with Leg Seam, Hair Artifacts, and Face Detail

Question

Hey everyone!

I just finished the prototype of a model I’m preparing for a multi-color print that’s going to take almost 3 full days, so I want to make sure I get all the geometry and surface issues resolved before I commit to the final version.

I designed the model myself. It’s about 15 cm tall (roughly 6 inches) and printed at a 10% tilt angle on a Bambu Lab P1S, using Bambu Studio with 0.12 mm adaptive layer height. Most of the filament is Bambu PLA, except for the skin which is Elegoo PLA Basic.

⸻

✅ What’s working well: • Silhouette and proportions look clean. • Support removal went fine. • Most major features printed without warping or shifting.

⸻

❌ Issues I need advice on: 1. Leg seam There’s a visible vertical line running from the foot to the thigh, likely the Z-seam. Is there a better way to hide this kind of seam on a curved surface like a leg? 2. Hair tips (underside) The curls at the bottom of the hair look stringy or melted. Could be a cooling issue or overhang-related — not sure how to improve that. 3. Top of the head / hairline I’m getting rough texture and weird surface artifacts on the crown and where the hair meets the scalp. Is this seam placement or top-layer cooling? 4. Face surface quality The face is readable, but not super clean. I’d love it to be smoother without dropping to ultra-fine layer heights — any ideas?

⸻

🔁 Other notes: • Printed at a 10% angle — would love your opinion if that’s a good idea or if you’d recommend a different orientation. • Not using ironing. • Model is not public. • One of the colors in the final version will use transparent filament, so I want to avoid any surface cleanup if possible.

Any feedback, suggestions, or slicer tweaks would mean a lot, I just want to make sure the final print is as clean as it can be. Thanks in advance! 🙏
