is my gf a maniac? should i break up?

Serious [No Jokes Allowed]

I (21M) and my girlfriend (21F) have been together for 2.5 years. My birthday’s coming up, and while she’s excited, I honestly couldn’t care less about celebrating it on the actual day. She has a flight at 9 PM, I’m working a 9-hour shift, and my grandfather has cataract surgery that day. The schedule is packed, and I told her there’s no way I can make it work. I even suggested we celebrate the following weekend, but she absolutely refused. She kept insisting that it had to be on the day, and when I pointed out that I’m not fixated on the date, just the time spent together, she wouldn’t listen.

I told her it’s unreasonable to expect a big celebration under these circumstances and that we could do something meaningful when it wasn’t so chaotic, but she was having none of it. She pushed for a half-day off for a 30-minute celebration, even though I was clear that it wasn’t realistic with everything going on. The conversation went round and round, and it started to feel like I was the one being unreasonable just because I wasn’t willing to bend to her demands.

After a long day of work and dealing with my own stress, I snapped and told her the conversation was torture, and I needed space. This isn’t the first time this kind of thing has happened. Whenever plans don’t go the way she wants, she gets upset, overthinks everything, and creates problems where there are none. It’s exhausting, and it’s like I’m stuck in an endless loop where no matter what I say or how reasonable the solution is, it’s just not good enough for her.
