Android SmartTag for partner tracking me during 10K

I'm doing a 10K river swim event in September and there's no footpath to view for spectators. My partner is planning to wait for me at the end, but really wants to track me (and also film the finish).

Anyone used any sort of tracking device like this, maybe issue the hat or wetsuit?
