By sheer luck I''ve managed to save tens of thousands of pounds in fees!

It's all thanks to a detail on fees at Cambridge. It's true: international students pay much more but not if they have a settled or pre-settled status in the UK, in that case they are treated as home students which means they don't even pay college fees.

For those who don't know you can ask for settled status if you've lived for more than 5 years in the UK before Brexit while pre-settled status is for people who lived in the UK for a considerable amount of time before Brexit but less than 5 years.

Incredibly one of my parents had worked for 6 months in London before Brexit and although he didn't ask for pre-settled status before the deadline, one of the accepted reasons for missing the deadline fits exactly our family situation. And my family situation makes it highly probable that I too will be able to get pre-settled status although I may not even need it since I'm a minor.

Once we'll complete all the beaurocracy I'll actually be able to afford Cambridge! I really can't believe it!

I'm sharing this information in case anyone is in my same situation and doesn't know it.
