what do you think about death note?

hello! so i’m new here, both sub and anime world wise, and i have a question lol. i never really watched anime but my brother’s obsessed, and he pleaded with me so much i decided to give it a go. he recommended death note, for reasons i can’t remember (probably something about being popular and a starting point for many) and i ended up not only finishing, but also really enjoying the whole thing. i liked it so much I actually decided to keep watching others, but now he makes fun of me for it saying that its animation really isn’t that great and it’s very base-level. i don’t really care, but now i’m curious whether other people share a similar sentiment or don’t really get the hate. is he mostly right or just being a hater lol? lemme know!
