What y'all are doing is way worse than what Hayden may or may not have done.

As a POC (African American) I do not care about the edgy racist jokes that someone made on the internet when they were a teenager that was raised in a small town in the south if they changed as a person. Hayden has proved more than enough that IF she had done the things that she did then she changed and that's alright with me.

I do however have a problem with all of the white people in this subreddit saying things like "it isn't a big deal" or "she doesn't have to address it" or "y'all are overreacting" and y'all can say it's because I'm 16 and I don't know the ways of the world (which is something I think Hayden would disagree with anyway) but I don't care. Because it is a big deal especially for someone like Hayden who has used her voice and her platform to help people. And I would not have thought much about it if the entitle white people were trying to brush it off because a celebrity that they like is involved in the scandal.

If it were someone like Lana Del Rey or Taylor Swift y'all would not be saying the things y'all are saying and y'all would not be defending them. Y'all are just doing it because y'all view Hayden as this God that can do no wrong and I personally think THAT is more immature than the 16 year olds on twitter trying to hold her accountable.

Do I hate Hayden? No. Will I stop listening to her? No. Will I stop supporting her? No. Will this alter my perception of her? No. And honestly if she did say these things I'm not shocked; if anything I expected something like this to resurface and I'm not gonna claim she's a horrible person because she's clearly not. And while I don't know her personally, if Hayden is the person that she's led us to believe then she'd WANT us to hold her accountable. She'd want us to talk about it and let her know that what she did was wrong because that's the kind of person I believe she is.

The entitled white people (and POC) saying it isn't a big deal and it's not that serious and that everyone who's a bit hurt by the comments are being dramatic is way way way worse than what Hayden did. Y'all are only saying that because Hayden is the one in the scandal and personally I think that's MORE racist than what Hayden did because y'all are showing that y'all don't actually care about POC. Y'all just like to pretend y'all do but at the end of the day when it comes down to either holding Hayden accountable or siding with the white girl. Y'all are siding with the white girl. And y'all just proved that. So personally; I adore Hayden but FUCK YALL.
