long distance relationship/marriage advice

hi me 28F) and my boyfriend (22M) are in a long distance relationship. he is from iraq and we have been together for almost 6 years. we are planning to get married after two years as he has other responsibilities and saving up for our future, and i have no idea how interracial marriage works in malaysia, the process of marriage. i want to ask for advice on how it’s done, is it hard for anyone that is the same boat as me? and this is because we both are muslims and only the court can perform the “wali” for obvious reason. i feel like everyone is criticizing my relationship and said “better marry org sini la” but love doesn’t work like that. i am only asking for advice and please be respectful if you can. thank u.
