I got my surgery today

Doctor removed 2 molar. It’s been 3 hours and still cannot feel my tongue or chin or anything. Is this normal? I don’t want to take pain medication because it ruins my stomach and recovery from the stomach will be very bad. I have had major surgeries in the past including and decided just deal with the pain. Is this surgery really bad in terms of pain? I have not gotten my pain medication yet. Pharmacy is taking forever.
