Investing $7k in Microsoft in my Roth IRA as a proxy to open AI?

Curious what this community thinks. I’m a 30yo female with a net worth of over $600k and $7k to invest in my Roth IRA this year. I’m considering putting the $7k into Microsoft as a proxy for investing in OpenAI.

I’m comfortable taking on more risk at this stage. The rest of my portfolio is mostly VTI, FSPGX, and a Target 2060 fund with 65% retirement, 30% brokerage, 5% cash, so I feel like I have a solid foundation. And given that I work in tech, I’m very bullish on AI.

A few questions:

  • Are there any downsides to buying individual stocks like Microsoft in a Roth IRA?
  • Is it better to stick to mutual funds in tax-advantaged accounts?
  • Anyone else investing in Microsoft for similar reasons?
