NEW Social Media in 2025 is HELL! (Marketing)
Social Media Sites:
X = I can't post or follow people.
Also views are restricted. Seems like violation of section 230.
Tiktok = 2 videos = 0 views 24 hours + on each video. (Maybe they think I'm a bot? Not sure why.
Youtube shorts = 3 videos 1.1k, 400, 16. (Started good, but 16 is crazy for shorts)
Reddit = communities with 50k+ only have 6 people online. Seems fishy. Can't self promote or post images.
Ebay = You may not see ebay as being social media, but this will help provide the big picture.
10 item limits on new accounts.
I'm scaled up to 1,000s of items.
Ebay will not increase limits even if I mention my 15 year old+ account to (protect their community). Yet, it's full of fraud and scammers.
Now the big picture:
X
Can't promote a new company on x, as it restricts views. 3 views is not going to convert anyone. It just seems like they want to collect information, and push ads down your throat. It says following and unfollowing people is suspicious, yet the majority of content is just people talking about themselves, and the comments are just clout chasers. The larger accounts are probably not even the person posting. So, the people commenting hoping to connect is just connecting with the social media marketer.
Seems like a huge waste of time, but I'm open for other perspectives.
TikTok
I thought it would be cool to learn the platform, and try to market. Yet, videos are getting 0 views. So, it's impossible to even gain analytics to improve. Maybe it's because I'm tethering my phone to my laptop, and posting from there?
Youtube
I feel like this could work out, I just need to keep trying.
Reddit
Karma farmers > real content or something helpful. Values seem misaligned. I feel like marketing on here may work, if the right communities were found.
Ebay
With a large enough time horizon it world work, but I think it would take social media.
Right now I have 100 shoes at .99 cents that are worth $50 resell value, and they are at .99 cents with 3 days left. They also restrict views, and money limits.
The conclusion:
Social media and marketing in 2025 is hell, but I think the majority of my problems are learning curve of platform nuances, but for a normal person these should be explained for new users.
If most people experienced what I did on x, and tiktok they would simply stop using it.
Yet, this is faster then knocking on doors.
Open to other opinions, solutions, and conversation.
P.S.
Most social media is not social anymore. People drop their opinions, and defend their viewpoints instead of conversation.
