Outside of riding all day, why are western boots advantageous over military or work boots?

I get the smooth sole sliding in/out of stirrups, and the protection of the lower leg from friction.

But beyond that, what's the advantage? Like if your day on th field is mostly not riding, and you're doing other work, why would you be wearing western boots?
