[INDIA] My mom got scammed for 1000 INR and I am ashamed to say I didn't pay enough attention to stop it

Scam report

There is a grocery delivery app here called Big Basket which has a subscription model for items we might require daily delivery for. My family lives in a "gated community" - basically a housing community with several apartments with common amenities and security. This particular BB delivery guy started showing up door to door asking every resident to sign up for a subscription for milk packets everyday.

He asked my mom to give him 1000 INR cash and claimed he would create the subscription in her phone. My mom's account was unusable for some reason and she asked me if she could login to mine. I was chilling in my room not thinking much and gave her the OTP (A sort of password thats valid for a couple of minutes for authentication) and did not pay attention to what was happening. She signed up for a subscription and was expecting milk to be delivered the next day but it never csme. She waited 2, 3 days and nada. The whatsapp groups which had all the residents of our housing society blew up with messages of multiple people asking if anyone else had signed up for this big basket subscription with no delivery in sight.

Only then we realized we got scammed and had a family meeting with my dad warning us not to trust ANYONE with any of our personal gadgets or personal information. I'm never one to fall for scams and im ashamed I didnt check what was happening and just believed this guy was legit. I would've never handed him the phone like my mom did but I also didn't pay enough attention to realize she did. It's not a big amount but it's a matter of principle of getting scammed. Also it was my account and OTP from my phone so that's left me a bit worried about any exposure of my personal details. A warning to everyone - please be vigilant of any 3rd party agent claiming to do anything for you. To quote my dad - there is no free lunch in the world.
