GeForce now, despite the 100 hour cap, is amazing for me

Opinion

GeForce works perfectly for me.

but a bunch of people disagree, saying that the 100 hour cap is terrible

and before you say I'm sucking NVIDIA's cock, let me explain

20 bucks per month for 100 hours can look frustrating if GeForce now is your main gaming rig, but you can save on money by using GeForce now compared to buying a new rig.

assuming you are American, a new rig similar in performance to ultimate is around 2.8-3.5k $ USD new assuming you're getting stuff like 32 GB of DDR5 RAM, a rtx 4080, and a ryzen 7 7800X3D, or 1070-1400$ USD if you're buying used

so based on hardware alone, you'd break even with around 4.3 years buying a used desktop, or 8 years if you were to buy new

but that's hardware alone, if you're gaming like 100 hours per month, a computer similar in performance to ultimate would cost around 7.50$ USD in America or 15€ in Europe assuming kwh is around 30 cents EU or 15 cents USD per kwh, whereas with a laptop, say, a older budget model like a lenovo IdeaPad 110 your electricity cost would be like 1.05€ or 0.53 USD$

so you'd save around 7 USD$/14€ in electricity, making the GeForce now subscription cost around 13$ USD/ 12€ Euro's, so the break even point where it's better to build your own gaming PC is after 7-12 years assuming a best case scenario

this is not factoring in resale of old hardware of course, but for me, GeForce now is amazing because i don't have to worry about spending a chunk of money to upgrade and having the hassle of reselling my old tech on ebay or Facebook marketplace
