How do you know if a product is good or not if there are so many bots recommending their own products?

It feels like complete guesswork. Reviews are bottled sometimes and I don't know which ones are real or not. I used to use reddit for recommendations but most comments for specific products read like ads. I know of a few websites for specific things that are good but those don't exist for everything as far as I know. Do most people have these issues or know a way around it?
