Why the hell is weed still illegal here?

I moved here from Colorado in 2023. For a government counting pennies its insanity, in 9 years Colorado has grossed 3 BILLION in taxes from a population 10x smaller than the UK. My girlfriend was an engineer in Colorado designing schools, every single school was funded by the tax on marijuana. The capitol building got a $19,000,000 upgrade, all paid for by marijuana. We would rather scum bags and people in other countries keep all this cash in the black market? Ridiculous.
