I’ve got some questions about performing surgery
I’m a fairly new dentist, but I’ve placed implants, done sinus bumps, ext on 3rds, I love surgery and I feel like I’m fairly competent at it.
I know the basics behind performing a little more complex surgeries and how to deal with the complications. However I am looking at a case I want to dive into but know it could be a big liability if the outcome isn’t what the patient absolutely loves.
I’m wondering how do other dentists that want to tackle complex cases do it? I’m not an oral surgeon and the care of the patient would obviously be better served in the hands of someone with more experience, and it’s not like I’m set on doing this case or anything, but part of me feels like maybe I should have been an oral surgeon since I like this stuff so much, but is too much for me at this point to go back and do.
Any advice from those Super GPs who do complex stuff on how to stretch and push yourself safely or tackle cases like these along side an oral surgeon?
