Snowdon route advice

Hi, my girlfriend and I are planning to hike snowdon and were looking for advice on which route to take up. We're both very fit but lack experience in hiking, and never hiked snowdon before. Planning to use OS maps.

Considering the Rhyd Ddu path on the way up, then the ranger path on the way down, but slightly concerned about the drops on either side in terms of safety. Hoping to leave from and arrive back at snowdon basecamp.

Would any of you recommend the Watkins route instead? If so any suggestions for how to make a circular route and end up at the same campsite as the start? And good campsites at the start route?
