What can non-cheaters do to stay safe and avoid helping cheaters?

I've been thinking a lot about how browser extensions and Discord alerts are enabling people to game the Vine system—ordering items that were only ever meant to appear in someone else’s RFU. A few thoughts come to mind:

  1. I don’t want to help others cheat. It undermines the program—and my own benefit from it.

  2. I’ve heard chatter about a past "purge" where a lot of people were removed from Vine. I wonder if another is coming. I'd like to keep my head down and avoid getting caught up in the next purge.

Amazon has a few ways they could handle this. They could fix the technical vulnerabilities—but cheaters would likely just move on to the next workaround. If I were Amazon, I’d consider leaving the holes open for a while just to track behavior:

They could easily audit the items that were inappropriately ordered.

Then they could easily look into which accounts are involved—on both sides (the orderers and those whose RFUs had legit access to the item)?

They could purge the cheaters and further test the people whose RFUs were used. For example, Amazon could quietly drop a desirable item into only one person’s RFU. If it magically gets ordered by other accounts, it becomes very obvious how info is spreading (via Discord or extensions or whatever). They could even decide that it doesn’t matter whether you’re intentionally or unintentionally helping cheaters—either way, you’re out. IMO it's totally understandable for them to kick out even the "innocent" people helping the cheating. I certainly would if it was up to me.

Personally, I’ve been reconsidering my participation in Discord. I was planning to cut back—just post some filler links to lame items to maintain "activity" credit, but stop linking to anything good. But now I think I’ll just stop posting entirely. Discord was helpful in the beginning (6–12 months), but lately it hasn't added much value for me.

I do still use Vine Helper. But all I've ever used it for is to hide items I've already seen since I keep many tabs open with searches I manually refresh. I’ve never used its alerting features.

What do you think?
