HELP! Buds won't grow 6 months after pruning

We bought a set of 4 different fiddle leaf fig plants about 2 years ago, and since, they have been thriving. I really like the look of fiddle leaf figs branching instead of growing straight up, so decided to try my hand at pruning the two larger fiddle leaf figs to see if I could get multiple branches (at least two). I did this about 6 months ago, and now only one of the branches on both of the fiddles is growing. I can see the bud for where the second branch wants to/should grow, but it's not growing. I understand apical dominance is playing into this, but what did I do wrong? How do I get the two buds to start growing??? We just repotted the plant about one month ago, so I know that it's not root bound. I just don't know. Please help!!!!
