Desperately seeking help - extremely overwhelmed choosing a vacuum to purchase during prime deals

My wife and I are looking to purchase a vacuum / mop combo during prime deals but we are so overwhelmed with options and attempting to research different models has turned up so many different opinions we have no idea which to go with. We have one dog, mostly hardwood floors, a few rugs, and a baby. This is what we're looking for:

<$500 (many at msrp over are currently going for under 500) Preference for strong vacuum (something good at dealing with hair in particular) over strong mop Obstacle avoidance

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated, thanks so much. We've spent hours trying to decide and have made little to no progress toward a decision and its driving us a little insane.
