Unsure of what career to go into

Hi Reddit,

I'm currently a sales professional who is just getting a little bored of sales. I'm good at what I do but it seems like finding a good sales organisation that treats its employees fairly and not like money leeches is impossible.

The targets always get higher, people are always being let go and they really treat you like shit.

I want a career with a bit more job security where I havn't got to worry about whether I'll be looking for a new job in a month if I have an unlucky streak and don't hit my targets.

I've been considering IT, but I'm concerned about having to learn new technologies and qualifications every 6 months when something new comes out. I sell IT so I see IT professionals in their 60s and 70s still training and doing tests/qualifications.

I'm also considering finance, but I'm concerned that it's a pretty solved job and it wouldn't be out of the realms of reality if in the next 10 years most finance roles are replaced by an AI doing it for 1% of the cost, then I'd be stuck with useless qualifications, and no job at the end of it.

Does anyone have any thoughts about my concerns? Are they valid or am I being stupid?

Thanks Reddit!
