Moving into an apartment together post-divorce. Nervous about moving into a shared space again and trusting it fully
Boyfriend for the past year or so now has been living with me in my 480 sqft studio. My apartment, I pay the rent and manage the relationship with the landlord. Been considering getting a larger space, prospectively a two bedroom in an effort to give us both more breathing room (Being in a studio together for a year has... been an experience).
I'm about 18 months out from a divorce from my ex of 6 years. We owned a home together and had moved in with one another pretty quickly after we got together. I felt post divorce where me not having control of my living situation was rocky and unsettling. Not being able to call a place my own and determining the rules of engagement really left a bad taste in my mouth. It's partly the reason why for the past year we've been living in my studio; the fear of losing control of my living situation had made me very uneasy. My concern this time around is putting myself into a situation AGAIN where I'm putting my trust in someone to ensure that my living situation is stable. Has anyone else been in a similar situation and can offer advice for soothing my concerns of getting pushed out of my living situation with a lover again?
