How do I know if my fiancé (34M) is truly gone or just overwhelmed by the war?

Hi everyone, My fiancé and I were in a long-distance relationship for 6 years. The plan was that he would immigrate to the UK and I would join him there. But when the war in Iran started last month, everything changed. First, he said he couldn’t leave Iran because of his mom. Then he changed his mind and said we could go to Turkey, get married, and I’d sponsor him to Canada as going to the UK from Iran wasn’t an option anymore. But just two days later, he ended things. He was crying when he said goodbye and told me he loves me but I shouldn’t call him again. He told our therapist that he’s in doubt. The therapist said, “I can’t decide for you, but if you decide to go, never come back.” His sister and my friend both think the war affected him mentally and emotionally. I am scared of calling him because I don’t want to put any pressure on him leading to hate me.

I’m heartbroken and confused. I just want to know if I should let go completely, or if there’s still hope. Any advice is appreciated.
