The 1950–2000 Grouping Is Cursed and Generational Supremacy
I’ve noticed some strange behavior that deserves attention: There’s a persistent and almost mythic grouping of People Born from 1950 to 2000 as a sort of golden generation. It's a psychological phenomenon rooted in identity, nostalgia, and exclusion.
People use this 50 year span in strange, sometimes disturbing ways:
Claiming those born in 1950-2000 were the best and luckiest humans
Framing everyone born before 1950 as outdated
Treating those born after 2000 as lesser, broken, or irrelevant
In some extreme spaces, even pushing ideas that those born before 1950 and those born after 2000 should be purged
This goes way beyond innocent reminiscing it borders on what I’d call generational supremacy.
From a psychological lens, it raises important questions:
Why are people so drawn to grouping such a massive and diverse range 1950-2000 into one chosen era
Is this about clinging to a perceived peak of identity, power, or stability?
What are the mental health effects on those excluded particularly 2001 and before and 1949 and before when they're made to feel inherently inferior?
Meanwhile, people born 2001 and after (like my generation) are rising facing entirely new challenges, redefining identity, and creating new culture. And those born before 1950 hold wisdom and experience that shouldn't be discarded.
We should be asking: Why is this 1950–2000 glorification used it's not healthy, it blocking progress, dividing generations, and damaging intergenerational understanding
1950-2000 is around 4 Billion People most of the world right now that's a lot lot lot lot lot of People
It’s time we examined the psychology behind this kind of framing and started giving more respect to those born before 1950 and after 2000. Every generation has value. No one group should be crowned while others are dismissed.
