[Mod approved] Seeking personal experiences of psychosis and schizophrenia with a psychedelic/drug background for an article - open to DMs

Opinion / Thought / Idea / Discussion

Have you experienced long-term psychosis after psychedelics or other drugs - especially if you were later diagnosed with schizophrenia or something similar? I’d really like to hear from you.

I’m a journalist currently working on a piece for Chemical Collective exploring persistent psychosis and psychotic conditions following psychedelic or drug use.

I’m especially interested in the phenomenology - the fancy term for what it actually felt like as things changed after a drug experience. How did the trip actually 'trigger' the condition? What did it feel like? What happened as that state started to bleed into and impact sober life? What images, fears, or sensations stayed? How did things settle if you later got a diagnosis of schizophrenia?

I’m looking to hear from people who:

  • Experienced lingering psychosis after psychedelics or other drugs
  • Later received a schizophrenia or schizoaffective diagnosis
  • Can describe what the transition felt like, how it compares to ‘classic’ schizophrenia, and how you’ve made sense of it over time
  • Have tried psychedelics with schizophrenia, drug-induced or not, to explore how it feels

I’m not here to sensationalise! I’ve been writing on this subject for years and care deeply about doing it right - I’ve previously worked with the Challenging Psychedelic Experiences Project and had my work published by the BBC and The New Statesman. You can remain anonymous, and I’m happy to speak over Reddit, email, or whatever you’re comfortable with.

Thanks so much,
