Does my 3-year German Ausbildung count as work experience for Australia’s Skilled Independent Visa (Subclass 189)?

Subclass 189

Hi everyone,

I’m currently finishing my Ausbildung in Germany, 3-year vocational training program that combines studying and working in a specific field (in my case, as a cook) During this time, I’ve been employed and gaining hands-on experience while also attending vocational school.

I’m planning to move to Australia and apply for the Skilled Independent visa (subclass 189), and I’d really appreciate some clarity: Does the experience gained during my Ausbildung count toward the minimum skilled work experience requirement for the 189 visa?

If anyone here has gone through a similar process or has knowledge about how Australian immigration assesses German Ausbildung, I’d love to hear your insights.

Thanks in advance
