Mean streets is so bad.

From a screenwriters perspective reading the screenplay and watching the movie.

What is this crap?

Multiple subplots that are never resolved or fully fleshed out and scenes that provide nothing to the story,

Girl has epilepsy? Nothing is done with it,

Kids buying fireworks? What’s the point? Pointless scene. Also why are a bunch of grown men scamming the teens for money so they can go to the movies? Their mobsters don’t they have money already?

Kid shoots another man in the bathroom? Okay it’s brought up later in the script of why he did that but it’s never fleshed out. These grown men running from a kid with a gun in a bar why not shoot him?

Charlie and the black dancer girl? What’s the point? They don’t have a relationship so why even put this in the damn script? She’s barely seen in the script, just cut her out,
Charlie says he wants to open a restaurant but nothing is done with this.

Why is Johnny boy so crazy? Whats his backstory? He has no depth, he just seems to go from one crazy antic to another.

Weak villains.

Guy who De Niro owes money to is not bulit up as a threat at all he barely has any screentime making him an unmemorable villain.

A cinimatic turd but I guess you gotta start somewhere.,
