AITAH for taking a break from my friends?

Advice Needed

So for the past year, I’ve been busier than I have ever been. School, work, a boyfriend. I’m struggling to balance it all. The past year there’s been friction between me and my closest friends. When I say no to plans they try to convince me to go, so I’ll lie instead and make up an excuse they can’t refute, which makes them think I’m a liar. They rarely if ever, make a solid plan therefore when they ask to hang out spontaneously I’m usually busy. I’m also not the kind of person who can hang out after a full day of work.

Recently we got into an argument after they kept pushing me to go on this huge trip with them and I said no twice because I don’t have the money. They brushed it off and said I could save, so I lied and said I had an other trip. This turns into a bigger disagreement where I’m a liar (I did lie and I acknowledge it was wrong but wouldn’t say I’m a liar). I fess up and just tell them the whole truth, that I’m not going and I lied because I was brushed off. It becomes this argument where they say I’m never around anymore which has never been brought to my attention until right now. They say it’s okay if I don’t want to hang out so much with them anymore, so I tell them I’d like a break and they get upset.

Am I the asshole? I know I’m not 100% in the right, I could’ve had more of a backbone (and will from here on out, I have personal issues that make it very hard to just say no), but I feel they’re being unreasonable as well.
