I have quite moderate-severe flu symptoms after whiplash, is this normal and what can I do?

Injury

I was out the other night at a gig and was headbanging pretty hard, long story short I discovered I had whiplash the next morning. For two days I was struggling to move my head around and had to hold it up while I moved a certain way. I had a really sore throat, which I boiled down to lashing my head around and shouting a lot, but now on day three i'm stuck in bed with a runny/blocked nose, nausea, a dry cough and a very irritated throat. I got no sleep last night and only managed to have a sleep for about 4 hours this afternoon, but i'm not tired. I haven't been to the ER or GP yet as I know it's whiplash and it's just symptoms of flu/cold which the doctor will quickly say to just take paracetamol. I think waiting hours for an appointment will be a waste of time but if these symptoms get worse or don't go away in the next couple of days I think I'll just have to. Is this a normal reaction to whiplash?
